The fuel gauge does not change indication unless there has been at least 3 gallons of fuel added or deleted between ignition switch cycle. Use recorded REM and instrument cluster DTCs from the Continuous and On- Demand self-test. ? Are any DTCs recorded? Yes If REM DTC B1201 or IC DTC U1131 is retrieved, GO to D6 . No GO to D2. D2 CARRY OUT THE ICM FUEL GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND IC Active Command Select the IC FUEL GAUGE CONTROL active command. Trigger FUELLEVEL active command. Toggle and monitor the fuel gauge while adjusting the FUELLEVEL active command to read 50% and 100% Did the fuel gauge needle start at empty (E), move to half at 50%, and full (F) at 100%? Yes GO to D3. No INSTALL a new instrument cluster; REFER to Instrument Cluster. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the instrument cluster self-test. D3 CHECK THE FUEL GAUGE READING Fuel Pump Module C412 Connect one lead of Instrument Gauge System Tester to fuel pump module C412 Pin 5, Circuit 1357 (LB/YE), harness side. Connect the other lead to fuel pump module C412 Pin 8, Circuit 1356 (LG/VT), harness side. Set the power switch on Instrument Gauge System Tester to the ON position Set Instrument Gauge System Tester to 15 ohms. Wait one minute. Set Instrument Gauge System Tester to 160 ohms. Wait one minute. Read the fuel gauge. The fuel gauge should read full or above. Set Instrument Gauge System Tester to 15 ohms. Wait one minute. Read the fuel gauge. The fuel gauge should read empty or below Does the fuel gauge operate correctly? Yes GO to D4. No GO to D6. D4 INSPECT THE FUEL TANK Visually inspect the fuel tank for any damage or deformation. ? Is the fuel tank OK? Yes GO to D5. No INSTALL a new fuel tank. REFER to Section 310-01. TEST the system for normal operation. D5 INSPECT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY Visually inspect the fuel pump assembly for damaged wiring or connectors. Visually inspect the float and float rod for damage or obstruction

Engine Fan Runs Constantly If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the engine fan running constantly with code P2073(004) Electric fan for engine & AC, open circuit; this may be caused by the wiring harness between the ECU and the engine fan or the engine control unit fan end stage malfunctioning. To resolve, perform the below procedure. Note: Only vehicles as outlined in Service Campaign Bulletin No. 2003110006 are affected, see vehicle range shown. When performing Service Campaign Bulletin No. 2003110006 only, the engine ECU does not need to be exchanged. All engine ECUs exchanged under warranty for the above condition must be accompanied by the freeze frame data for the respective DTC. Claims submitted without this information will be debited back to the dealer Remedy: 1) Check wiring harness between engine ECU connector (pin 39) and engine fan connector (pin 4) for continuity. IF OK, proceed as follows. 2) Replace engine control unit (AR07.08-P-7008P) 3) Install adapter harness a. Remove lower underbody panel b. Disconnect engine wiring harness plug from engine fan C. Connect adapter wiring harness between fan connector and engine wiring harness. d. Secure adapter wiring harness with loom ties (Figure 1). e. Secure adapter wiring harness plug to engine fan (Figure 2)

WARNING: Disconnecting an air line that is connected to the air compressor can cause personal injury or damage to components as high pressure air is vented uncontrolled. 1. Turn the air suspension switch on. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. 3. Connect NGS Tester to the data link connector (DLC). 4. Select Air Suspension Control Module under Active Command Mode: ? VENT FRNT to deflate the front down. ? LIFT FRNT to inflate the front up. ? VENT REAR to deflate the rear down. ? LIFT REAR to inflate the rear up. Front Ride Height Resetting — Clear B2140 DTC 1. Turn the ignition key OFF and turn it back to RUN; exit the vehicle, close all doors and allow the system to vent the vehicle down to kneel height (approximately 30 seconds). 2. Connect New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester to the data link connector (DLC). 3. Select the proper vehicle year, model and engine type. 4. Select 4WAS-AIR SUSP/EVO (4×2 and 4×4) module. 5. Select “Parameter Reset Command (Clear Ride Height) under Active Command Modes” menu, trigger through the warning messages and reset (trigger from OFF to ON): ? NGS version 10.0 — “Front” and “Rear.” ? NGS version 11.0+ — “Front CLR.” 6. Back out the torsion bar adjustment bolt (approximately 40 mm from the bolt head to the bottom surface of the torsion bar adjuster). 7. Deflate the front air shocks by using the NGS “Vent Front” command in “Air Suspension Control” menu (should take about 30 seconds), and jounce the front of the vehicle to fully lower the front of the vehicle. 8. Adjust and measure the vehicle ride height; refer to Section 204-01B. 9. NOTE: Do not save rear ride heights. The air suspension control module has precalibrated values already stored. Refer to Rear Ride Height Mechanical Resetting. Select the “Save Calibration Values (Store Ride Height)” NGS command to calibrate the air suspension control module. Trigger through the warning message(s) and save “FRONT” (trigger from OFF to ON).

SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the following components; • cluster lid “C” (HVAC control surround trim) • fuse box cover • driver’s side instrument panel lower cover (attached with 2 screws). 2. Remove the screw from the center of the cable operated gear (see Figure 2). Figure 2 3. Locate the small (about 1″ dia.) white air mix door gear. Hopefully it is still on the floor. NOTE: If you cannot find the old air mix door gear, order a new gear. Refer to the Parts Information section of this bulletin. 4. To see how it is supposed to fit, temporarily install the gear into the air mix door shaft (see Figure 3). Figure 3 Air mix door drive gear (shown installed) Heater box Cable operated gear Retaining screw (remove) Front TP020106 Cable (do not detach) On the left side of the heater case, remove the screw from the center of the cable operated gear for the air mix door. Note: It is not necessary to detach the cable from the gear or the heater box. Proper pin location for air mix door/door gear with door/gear turned fully clock wise. Front TP010607a The gear can fit two different ways, only one of which is correct. Install the gear and rotate the gear/mix door shaft assembly fully clockwise so the gear’s index pin is at the 2 to 3 o’clock position. Cable (do not detach) Note: If the gear is in the correct spot, the alignment pin will be at the 2 to 3 o’clock position. POSITIONING THE GEAR CORRECTLY IS CRITICAL TO GETTING THE DOOR TIMING RIGHT. 3/5 5. Remove the gear, thoroughly clean the gear shaft of any grease, and apply the glue. See Figure 4. Figure 4 6. Re-install the gear into the mix door shaft (see Figure 5). Figure 5 TP010606a Air mix door gear (back side) Apply Glue to Shaded areas b. Apply plastic glue (3M dp-8005 or equivalent) to the shaft of the air mix door gear in the area where it inserts into the air mix door shaft. a. Thoroughly clean the air mix door gear shaft. Note: It is not necessary to clean the grease from the gear teeth. Front TP020100 Re-install the gear so the gear’s index pin is at the 2 to 3 o’clock position when the gear/mix door shaft assembly is turned fully clockwise. Proper pin location for air mix door/door gear with door/gear turned fully clock wise. 4/5 7. Set the HVAC control temperature dial as shown in Figure 6. Figure 6 8. Re-install the cable operated gear (see Figure 7). Figure 7 9. Operate the temperature control while watching the air mix door gear movement. They should operate freely with no binding. 10.Check the adjustment of the temperature cable as follows: A. Rotate the temperature control knob to the full COLD position (i.e., fully counterclockwise) and confirm the air mix door is fully seated (sealed) in the down position, then B. Rotate the temperature control knob to the full HOT position (i.e., fully clockwise) and confirm the air mix door is fully seated (sealed) in the up position. If the air mix door does not fully seat (seal) in either the full HOT or full COLD position: • Adjust the temperature control cable, with the temperature control knob in the full hot position, using the clip at the heater unit (see Figure 7) 11.Re-install the trim pieces removed in step 1.
